Apartment Maintenance Technician Program
(No Golden Age Waiver)
Prepare for a career in the residential property industry! This 45-hour program trains students to maintain and repair homes, apartments, townhouses, condominiums, and other multi-unit complexes. Students gain knowledge and hands-on skills in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, appliance service, lock and key services, and property inspection.
Topics Include:
General appearance/maintenance
Safety and work order management
Preventative maintenance scheduling
Professionalism and communication with residents, team members, and contractors
Class Requirements:
Age: Must be at least 18 years old on the first day of class.
Academic: High school diploma or GED required.
Physical: Ability to stand, walk, climb, lift, carry objects, work in confined spaces, bend, kneel, and stoop for extended periods.
Pre-enrollment: Attend a coaching appointment or information session; complete any required funding paperwork.
Language: English language learners (ELL/ESL/ELA) who have CASAS scores should submit results to Angela Watson at aswatson@henrico.k12.va.us
Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for maintenance work.
